Turkmen film to be presented at III Bishkek International Film Festival
13.06.2025 | 11:55 |The Turkmen film "Kitap" ("The Book"), produced in 2024 by the "Turkmenfilm" Association named after Oguzhan, will be presented today, June 13, at the III Bishkek International Film Festival. The screening will take place at the TSUM Cinema in the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
The film is participating in the Central Asian Cinema competition. Hekim Alovov directed the picture, with the screenplay based on the short story "The Book" by renowned Turkmen writer Nurmyrat Sarykhanov. The musical score for the film was composed by Rovshen Nepesov.
The plot centers on the story of Welmyrat aga, an elderly man who chose a secluded life in the mountains. Having forsaken worldly vanity, he dedicated himself to labor and the pursuit of truth. Through the prism of his destiny, the film explores spiritual values, human dignity, and wisdom embodied in the characters of ordinary people.
The main roles were performed by Muhammetmyrat Atayev, Chary Yakubov, Annageldi Orazgeldiev, and Suleyman Eminov.
About the Festival The festival has brought together over 120 participants, including directors, writers, producers, actors, film critics, and experts from 33 countries.
The festival program includes screenings of 40 films, along with a Week of French and German Cinema. The closing ceremony and awards presentation will be held on June 15.
