Turkmenistan and the UN coordinate humanitarian efforts in the region
16.06.2025 | 20:50 |Today, on June 16, 2025, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Turkmenistan Jalpa Ratna, who is currently serving as the UN Resident Coordinator in the country, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the talks, the parties discussed key aspects of Turkmenistan's interaction with the United Nations and its agencies. Particular attention was paid to Turkmenistan's humanitarian activities, launched in connection with the current situation in the Middle East, according to a press release from the Foreign Ministry.
It was especially noted that Turkmenistan confirms in practice its commitment to the high ideals of humanism and solidarity, actively providing support in emergency humanitarian situations. The parties also noted Turkmenistan's close cooperation with international organizations, in particular the UN, in providing prompt assistance to the departure of foreign citizens who are currently in Iran.
This meeting underscored Turkmenistan’s continued commitment to the principles of humanity, international cooperation and good neighborliness at the global level.
