Turkmenistan–Italy Business Forum Preparation Discussed in Rome
22.06.2025 | 16:00 |On June 16, a business meeting took place at the Colonna Palace in Rome with the participation of Michele Morgoni, President of the Italian Institute for Asia (ISIA), Davide Palmieri, Secretary General of ISIA, Toyly Komekov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Italy, and Luciano Ferrari, Ambassador of Italy to Turkmenistan, who joined the meeting online.
The meeting focused on issues arising from the outcomes of the talks between President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni, held on March 30, 2025, in Astana during the first "Central Asia – Italy" summit. The discussion covered the development of business and economic ties, as well as preparations for the upcoming business forum in Rome.
Participants highlighted the potential for cooperation in areas such as energy, renewable energy sources, agriculture, the textile industry, and information technology. Opportunities for the implementation of joint initiatives and expansion of economic contacts were emphasized.
In the second part of the meeting, representatives of large and medium-sized Italian businesses spoke. They expressed interest in entering the Turkmen market and confirmed their readiness to participate in the planned business forum dedicated to bilateral economic relations.
