Aaeon introduces new ultra-compact industrial PC featuring Intel Core Ultra

Aaeon has announced the release of the PICO-MTU4-SEMI, a fanless mini-PC powered by an Intel Core Ultra processor. The manufacturer claims this device to be the "world's smallest" of its kind, measuring a mere 108 x 95 x 43 mm.

Despite its miniature dimensions, the PICO-MTU4-SEMI operates entirely in a passive mode, meaning it is fanless. This design ensures silent operation and high reliability, making it particularly well-suited for industrial applications, including integration into robotics and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs).

To accommodate industrial requirements, the PICO-MTU4-SEMI is equipped with multiple DB9 connectors, characteristic of industrial equipment. Most of these are optional and support RS-232/422/485 serial communication. One of these ports also functions as a GPIO for expanded input/output capabilities. In addition to these specialized connectors, the mini-PC includes two USB 3.2 Type-A ports, 2.5GbE and 1GbE network ports, an HDMI 1.4 connector, and a power input jack.

Inside its compact 0.6 kg chassis, the PICO-MTU4-SEMI houses an Intel Core Ultra 5 125U or the more powerful Intel Core Ultra 7 165U processor (both with a base TDP of 15W). It supports up to 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM (soldered on board), an M.2 2280 slot for storage (compatible with PCIe Gen 4 and SATA), and an additional M.2 2230 E-Key slot for a Wi-Fi module.

The mini-PC supports Windows 10, Windows 11, and Ubuntu Linux 22.04.2 operating systems.
