President of Turkmenistan Sends Congratulations on Switzerland's National Day

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent a congratulatory message to President of the Swiss Confederation Karin Keller-Sutter on the occasion of the country’s national holiday — Swiss National Day.

In his message, the head of state extended sincere congratulations and best wishes to President Karin Keller-Sutter, wishing her good health, happiness, and prosperity. He also conveyed his wishes of peace, continued progress, and prosperity to the people of the Swiss Confederation.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1992. Switzerland was among the first countries to recognize Turkmenistan’s independence.

Swiss National Day is celebrated annually on August 1. The holiday commemorates the founding of Switzerland in 1291, when the three cantons — Uri, Schwyz, and Unterwalden — formed an alliance that marked the beginning of the Swiss state.
