Google Pixel 10: Qi2 support with integrated magnets

Google Pixel 10 smartphones may feature built-in magnets to support the Qi2 magnetic wireless charging standard. This is supported by an image shared by insider Evan Blass, which shows a magnetic charger attached directly to the back of the smartphone.

Previously, it was speculated that Google, like Samsung, would only use magnets in cases. However, this leak suggests that the magnets will be integrated into the smartphone itself, similar to Apple's MagSafe technology.

According to Android Headlines, the new Pixel models may be slightly thicker and heavier, which is attributed to the installation of the necessary components for Qi2.

The Qi2 standard was developed by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) with Apple's involvement. Currently, only one Android device (the HMD Skyline) has full Qi2 support, while Samsung's flagship devices are certified as Qi2 Ready but require special cases.

The standard was recently updated to support power up to 25W. Following this, the WPC announced that "major Android devices" would soon join the ecosystem. All signs indicate that the Pixel 10 will be the first of them.
