China Expands Visa-Free Entry to Citizens of 75 Countries
01.08.2025 | 09:30 |China has established a visa-free regime for citizens of 75 countries, according to Wang Zhizhong, head of the National Immigration Administration of the People’s Republic of China.
As part of the country’s 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), the number of countries eligible for visa-free transit through China has grown to 55. Entry is permitted through 60 designated border checkpoints across 24 provinces, autonomous regions, and centrally administered cities.
The duration of visa-free transit has been extended to 240 hours. These measures are intended to facilitate travel for foreigners visiting China for tourism, business, and other purposes, Wang noted.
He added that during the Five-Year Plan period, Chinese border authorities processed the entry and exit of 1.556 billion individuals and inspected over 98 million vehicles.
Wang also emphasized that China’s customs clearance system at border checkpoints is considered one of the most efficient in the world.
Previously, China granted citizens of 74 countries visa-free entry for up to 30 days in an effort to attract more tourists and enhance the country’s international image.
