July 2025 in Ashgabat was the fourth hottest on record

This past July was one of the warmest months since meteorological observations began in Ashgabat in 1891. According to weather forecasters, the average monthly temperature was +33.5°C, which is 1.9°C higher than the climatic norm of +31.6°C.

This value places July 2025 as the fourth hottest July on record. Higher temperatures were recorded only in 2018 (+35.2°C), and in 2019 and 2021 (+33.7°C in both years).

Throughout the month, the temperature never dropped below the climatic norm. On seven days, it was at the long-term average, and on the other 24 days, it was higher. The absolute maximum temperature was +43.2°C, a figure comparable to previous years. For reference, the record high for July in the capital is +46.8°C, and the absolute annual maximum is +47.2°C.

In total, there were 12 days in July with temperatures of +40°C or higher: eight days with temperatures between +40°C and +41.9°C, and four days between +42°C and +43.2°C. According to experts, Ashgabat and the entire country have seen a steady trend toward hotter summers in recent years. Since 2013, the July temperature has exceeded the average climatic norm every year. Even the "coolest" value of the decade, +32.1°C in 2016, was also above the norm, as reported by the meteorological journal.
