Oriented on making people closer

Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held two meetings on Thursday, August 14: with Japanese Ambassador Hiroshi Sasaki and with Ambassador of the People's Republic of China Ji Shuming. These talks, held on the same day, underscore the strategic focus of Turkmenistan's foreign policy on strengthening ties with the two largest economies in the region.

Discussion of upcoming visits with a Japanese diplomat

During the meeting with the Ambassador of Japan, the parties discussed key issues of Turkmen-Japanese cooperation. The diplomats especially noted the exceptional importance of contacts at the highest and high levels for the further promotion of interstate relations. The main attention was paid to discussing the schedule of upcoming meetings in bilateral and multilateral formats, which indicates preparations for a new round of active contacts.

Negotiations with the Ambassador of China were also constructive. The parties noted with satisfaction the high level of relations in all areas. The key role of regular dialogue at the highest political level in strengthening bilateral ties was emphasized. As in the case of the Japanese Ambassador, diplomats paid special attention to preparations for upcoming visits and meetings, which indicates the imminent implementation of specific agreements.

Holding these two meetings on the same day clearly demonstrates that Turkmen diplomacy is actively shaping the agenda for the near future. The main focus in the dialogue with Japan and China is on practical preparations for high-level visits, which, judging by the talks, should give new impetus to Turkmenistan's strategic partnerships with these key Asian states.
