A tourist route has been developed to visit iconic places in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan
19.08.2025 | 22:26 |The new ring tourist route will connect three Central Asian countries — Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan (in particular, the regions of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm) and Kazakhstan. This large-scale project aimed at developing cross-border tourism includes visits to more than 15 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The route, which is an exciting journey, has been created for those who are interested in the culture, history, art and nature of Central Asia. It will allow tourists to get acquainted with the rich historical and natural heritage of the region.
Key points of the route
Turkmenistan:
• Ancient Merv: one of the largest archaeological centers on the Great Silk Road.
• Darwaza Gas Crater: a unique natural phenomenon and a world-famous tourist attraction.
• Kunyaurgench: the ancient capital of the Khorezm state, which is also a UNESCO site.
Uzbekistan (Khorezm and Karakalpakstan):
• Ichan-Kala and Dishan-Kala: historical parts of Khiva that have preserved the architecture of the ancient city.
• I.V. Savitsky Museum: the famous museum in Nukus with one of the largest collections of the Russian avant-garde.
• Ancient settlements: Kyzyl-kala, Chilpyk-kala, Toprak-kala and Ayyaz-kala.
Kazakhstan:
• Natural attractions: Torysh Valley and Bozzhyr Valley, as well as Mount Sherkala, which amaze with their landscapes.
• Shakpak Ata Mausoleum: one of the unique monuments of medieval architecture.
This route opens up new opportunities for adventurers and explorers, as well as contributes to strengthening regional cooperation.
According to the press service of the Committee on Tourism under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan, the development of a tourist ring route in the direction of Turkmenistan - Khorezm - Karakalpakstan – Kazakhstan is carried out in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures to enhance the role and importance of tourism in the economy by dramatically increasing the flow of tourists and accelerated expansion of the volume of tourist services in 2025-2026", providing for the creation of joint cross-border tourist routes.
The Tourism Committee, in cooperation with relevant organizations and representatives of the private sector, has developed a route that combines the convenience of travel and rich cultural content. As part of the route, tourists are given the opportunity to get acquainted with the following types of tourism:
Gastronomic tourism – tasting of traditional dishes of each country;
Eco–tourism - recreation against the backdrop of unique natural landscapes;
Ethnographic tourism – getting to know folk customs, traditions and crafts;
Pilgrimage tourism – visits to holy sites and spiritual and historical monuments.
