In a challenge to Apple, Vivo has introduced its first mixed-reality headset

Vivo has unveiled its first mixed-reality headset, the Vision Explorer Edition. This debut product stands out from its competitors due to its incredibly low weight of only 398 grams, which is nearly 1.5 times lighter than the Apple Vision Pro. This low weight was achieved by using magnesium alloy components and a well-designed structure.

The headset is equipped with two high-resolution micro-OLED displays and is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ chip, which Vivo claims is 2.5 times more powerful than its predecessor. The device also boasts an impressive low latency for passthrough video (just 13 ms) and accurate eye and hand tracking, making interactions with the virtual world intuitive.

However, the Vision Explorer Edition is not yet available for purchase. Vivo has adopted an unusual strategy: starting August 22, the headset is available for testing at demo stations in major Chinese cities. The company intends to first give users the opportunity to evaluate the device before it goes on sale. According to preliminary data, the price will be around 10,000 yuan (approximately 100,000 rubles).
