The CIS Economic Council agreed on projects for consideration by the heads of government
07.09.2025 | 13:35 |The 107th meeting of the CIS Economic Council was held in Dushanbe on September 5, where a wide range of issues aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Commonwealth countries were considered. Turkmenistan was represented at the meeting by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Tajikistan Aimyrat Gochmyradov.
The meeting participants discussed 27 issues, 17 of which will be submitted for consideration to the Council of Heads of Government, which will meet on September 29 in Minsk. Among the key topics:
Digital transformation. The draft Strategy for Cooperation in the Development of the Information Society and Digital Economy until 2035, as well as the Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development of the CIS until 2035 were approved. These are strategic documents that are designed to ensure the scientific and technological sovereignty of states and promote the implementation of innovations.
Removing barriers to trade. The Council members reviewed information on barriers to mutual trade and agreed on joint steps to eliminate them in order to make the Commonwealth market more open and freer for the movement of goods.
Transport and logistics. Particular attention was paid to the digitalization of the main multimodal transport corridors. The goal is to increase the efficiency of logistics and reduce costs, which is directly related to the key transport projects of Turkmenistan.
Development of innovation and science. The activities of the Intergovernmental Council for Exploration, Use and Protection of Subsoil Resources, as well as the Interstate Council on Intellectual Property, were approved. New projects aimed at supporting startups and small businesses, which contributes to the creation of a favorable innovation environment, were also considered.
These initiatives demonstrate the desire of the CIS countries to strengthen economic partnership, develop high-tech industries and create comfortable conditions for businesses and citizens.
The next meeting of the Economic Council is scheduled for December 5, 2025 in Moscow, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reported.
