 Turkmenistan and German Rhineland-Palatinate step up business dialogue

Turkmenistan and the German federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate are considering prospects for trade, economic and cultural cooperation. During a working visit to the capital of the state, Mainz, the Consul of Turkmenistan in Germany Murad Ozbekbayev held a number of meetings with key representatives of the region, including State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture Petra Dieck-Walter and the leadership of the Rhine-Hesse Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

During the talks, the parties emphasized the importance of developing direct contacts between regional chambers of commerce and industry and business circles. Particular attention was paid to such promising areas as energy, chemical industry, agricultural sector, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, as well as mechanical engineering and high technology.

It was noted that fruitful cooperation between Turkmenistan and Rhineland-Palatinate has great potential. The German side was informed in detail about the trade and economic opportunities of Turkmenistan. Mutual interest was expressed in organizing bilateral visits and joint business events in the near future. In particular, the Rhine-Hesse Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which unites about 42,000 member enterprises, expressed interest in establishing and expanding business contacts with the business circles of Turkmenistan.

About the region: an important economic and innovation center

Rhineland-Palatinate is one of the key federal states of Germany, located in the west of the country. With a population of over 4.2 million people, this region is known for its developed industry, chemical industry and pharmaceuticals. It is home to the headquarters of such global giants as the chemical concern BASF SE and the pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim GmbH, as well as the innovation leader BioNTech. Its proximity to France, Luxembourg and Belgium makes it an important transport and logistics hub in Europe.
