17.10.2025 | 05:26 |The city of Arkadag received new international recognition: the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO) awarded the Turkmen "smart" city the V.I. Blinnikov Gold Medal, an award given "for contribution to invention and patenting."
The ceremony took place in Arkadag on October 16 with the participation of delegates of the 47th meeting of the EAPO Administrative Council, which took place in the Turkmen capital.
Before the ceremony, foreign guests, including representatives from all eight EAPO member states, were shown the city's magnificent architectural ensemble and its distinctive features.
In their speeches, EAPO President Grigory Ivliev and other participants emphasized that Arkadag, built on the initiative of National Leader of the Turkmen People, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, is a model city, as evidenced by numerous prestigious certificates and patents.
Arkadag is a unique city in Turkmenistan, where advanced technologies are integrated into everyday life: for traffic control, lighting, utilities, and security. The city serves as a testing ground for numerous inventions, patents, and know-how. Its success clearly demonstrates how innovation and intellectual property can form the foundation for a sustainable and prosperous future.
The gold medal named after the founder of the EAPO, Viktor Ivanovich Blinnikov, was presented to Deryageldi Orazov, Chairman of the State Committee for the Construction of Arkadag.
A meeting of the EAPO Administrative Council, the governing body bringing together representatives of eight countries, was held in Ashgabat on October 14-15.
Following the meeting, a number of key decisions were made, including the EAPO's accession to the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement. This means that the Eurasian Patent Organization will become a member of the international industrial design registration system, significantly simplifying intellectual property protection for inventors in member countries.
