 A New Strategy for Higher Professional Education in Turkmenistan Until 2052 Has Been Approved

At a meeting of the Government of Turkmenistan on October 17, Deputy Chairperson of the Cabinet of Ministers Bayramgul Orazdurdyeva presented to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov a draft Strategy for the Development of Higher Professional Education for 2026–2052 for approval.

Following the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a resolution approving the Strategy and the Action Plan for its implementation for 2026–2030.

The long-term Strategy envisions a radical modernization of the entire higher education system to ensure its international competitiveness.

The key areas of reform include the following:

Digital transformation. Developing a national competitive education environment based on advanced teaching methods, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence (AI).

International recognition. Efforts to include Turkmen universities in international rankings of leading global educational institutions.

Accreditation and personnel. Implementing state and international accreditation of educational activities, as well as continuous professional development for faculty and administrators.

Connecting with the market. Creating modern tools for interaction between science, education, production, and business.

Improving governance. Implementing modern planning mechanisms that take into account demographic indicators, labor market development, and economic planning.

The Ministry of Education and relevant agencies have been tasked with ensuring the implementation of all measures outlined in the approved Strategy.
