The Makhachkala Sea Commercial Port plans to cooperate with Turkmenistan on transit cargo transportation.
Maritime connections between Turkmenbashi and Makhachkala will allow Russian cargo to be transported in transit to Central Asian countries.
“Negotiations are currently underway with our colleagues in Turkmenistan to intensify transportation between Turkmenbashi and Makhachkala. It is expected that Russian-made goods will be able to transit through Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, as well as in the opposite direction,” RIA Dagestan reports, citing the press service of the Makhachkala Sea Commercial Port.
In addition, possibilities are being explored to organize deliveries of Chinese cargo to Makhachkala via the ports of Aktau in Kazakhstan and Turkmenbashi in Turkmenistan, the source notes.
