 China–Central Asia Trade Hits Record High in January–May 2025

From January to May 2025, trade volume between China and the five Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan) increased by 10.4% compared to the same period last year, reaching 286.42 billion yuan (approximately $39.91 billion), according to the General Administration of Customs of China.

Chinese exports to Central Asian countries during the reporting period amounted to 188.18 billion yuan, up 5.6% year-on-year. Imports from Central Asia to China rose by 21%, reaching 98.24 billion yuan.

Agricultural imports from Central Asia grew by 26.9%, totaling 4.36 billion yuan.

Trade conducted via road transportation in the first five months of this year reached 143.65 billion yuan, a 10.9% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
