Apple is increasing iPhone production in India to reduce its reliance on China

Apple is actively shifting its production to India in an effort to lessen its dependence on China. For the first time ever, all four models of the upcoming iPhone 17 lineup, which are being prepared for launch, will be manufactured in India for the American market.

Production expansion spans five factories, including new plants from Tata Group and Foxconn. This increase is already yielding results: from April to July, $7.5 billion worth of iPhones were shipped from India, and the country has surpassed China to become the leading smartphone supplier to the United States.

However, the relocation process is not without its difficulties. Reports indicate that China is hindering the transfer of technology, and Foxconn was forced to recall its engineers. Apple had to replace them with specialists from Taiwan and Japan, which has resulted in increased costs.
