Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan plan to resume direct flights
25.08.2025 | 12:55 |Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan have reached an agreement to resume direct air travel between the two countries. This was announced by Transport Minister Ilhom Makhkamov in an interview with the TV channel "Uzbekistan 24."
On August 22, a trilateral meeting was held in the "Avaza" tourist zone in Turkmenistan, attended by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
In the presence of the leaders, several documents were signed, including a protocol on the development of civil aviation cooperation between Ilhom Makhkamov and the head of the "Turkmenhowayollary" (Turkmenistan Airlines) State Service, Dovran Saburov.
According to Uzbekistan's Transport Minister, this document sets the stage for the establishment of direct flights in the near future.
"Currently, there are no direct flights with Turkmenistan. Today, we signed a document... in the near future, there will be an opportunity to launch bilateral flights between the countries," Gazeta.uz quoted Makhkamov as saying.
