Microsoft is adding support for third-party services to the Xbox app

Microsoft has begun testing a new feature in the Xbox app for Windows that will allow users to download and install third-party programs. According to Xbox managers, this feature will simplify access to services outside of the Microsoft Store by integrating them into a single library.

The app will gain a "My Apps" tab, which will integrate popular game stores such as Steam, Battle.net, and Ubisoft Connect. This new feature is particularly useful for owners of Windows 11-based portable gaming consoles, like the ROG Ally, as it simplifies switching between applications.

Currently, the new function is available to a limited number of participants in the Xbox Insider program. Microsoft plans to gradually expand the list of supported services, but a full release date has not yet been announced.
