Moscow | Turkmenistan and Russia Discuss Strategy to Counter Modern Threats
27.10.2025 | 22:20 |Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation are deepening coordination on regional and global security issues. On October 27, a round of inter-MFA consultations aimed at countering modern challenges and threats took place in Moscow.
The Turkmen delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Akhmet Gurbanov, and the Russian delegation by Deputy Foreign Minister Dmitry Lyubinsky.
The meeting was held as part of the practical implementation of the Cooperation Program between the Foreign Ministries of Turkmenistan and Russia for 2025–2026, signed in June.
The agenda included an exchange of assessments of security threats in the region, including a detailed discussion of the situation in Afghanistan and Central Asia. The diplomats focused on Turkmen-Russian cooperation, agreeing to strengthen bilateral cooperation in security and countering new challenges.
The parties acknowledged effective cooperation within international organizations and explored opportunities for coordination within multilateral structures. Particular attention was paid to the need to consolidate best practices and enhance the capacity of government agencies in the field of information security.
Following the consultations, a commitment to close foreign policy coordination and mutual support was reaffirmed, and an agreement was reached to maintain regular working contacts.
