Cabinet meeting: budget, gas and international relations are in focus of the President of Turkmenistan
18.05.2025 | 01:50 |Ashgabat, May 17 | ORIENT. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via video link. The focus was on issues of internal development, preparation for budget planning for the next year, agricultural and cultural campaigns, as well as international activities.
The meeting opened with a speech by Chairperson of the Mejlis Dunyagozel Gulmanova, who spoke about the preparation of new bills in response to initiatives arising from state programs. Along with this, work is underway to expand contacts with foreign parliaments and international organizations. Turkmen deputies took part in a number of international meetings - from the forum of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation to the OSCE seminar in Istanbul.
Deputy Prime Minister Khodjamyrat Geldimyradov presented a draft resolution on the preparation of the State Budget for 2026. It was emphasized that the basis for the formation of the main parameters was the Program of Social and Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2022-2028. The priorities include macroeconomic stability, support for private business, digitalization, technological innovation and improving the living standard of the population.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Batyr Amanov reported on the digital transformation in the gas industry. In particular, they discussed strengthening control over the production, transportation and consumption of gas using digital technologies.
Deputy Prime Minister Tangryguly Atakhalliyev reported on the progress of agricultural campaigns. Agrotechnical work is being completed in the wheat fields. Preparatory activities for the harvest are underway. Crop care continues on cotton plantations, and rice sowing is underway in the Dashoguz region.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Baymyrat Annamammedov, preparations for the XXIV International Exhibition and Conference "White City Ashgabat" are being completed. Domestic and foreign companies will take part in the events, business meetings and demonstrations of new technologies will be held. An award ceremony for distinguished builders will also be held.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Nokerguly Atagulyev reported on Turkmenistan's participation in the RussianHalalEXPO exhibition in Kazan. He also reported on preparations for the Turkmen Carpet Festival, which will include an exhibition and a meeting of the World Association of Turkmen Carpet Connoisseurs. Honored carpet makers will be awarded honorary titles.
Deputy Prime Minister Bahar Seyidova spoke about two festivals: the international Melody of Peace (May 19-21) and the musical Melody of Friendship, Brotherhood (May 29-31). Concerts, master classes, and excursions are planned.
The Deputy Chairman also reported on preparations for celebrations to mark the end of the school year. The country's schools will hold the Last Bell ceremonies, presentation of gifts to graduates and teachers, as well as festive events. In addition, the organization of summer recreation for children in health centers, including sports and cultural programs, was discussed.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on the results of the visit of Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Tatarstan. The National Leader of the Turkmen people spoke at the international forum "Russia - Islamic World", where he voiced the initiative to create a single energy and transport belt of Eurasia, connecting Asia and Europe. Particular attention was paid to issues of food security and technological development of the Islamic world.
The Minister also announced the expansion of partnership with the OSCE. A package of proposals aimed at developing cooperation in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres has been prepared.
During the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov carefully listened to the reports and considered the proposals of the participants in the government meeting, and instructed the Deputy Prime Ministers to hold all planned events at a high level.
The head of state also signed a Resolution instructing the Ministry of Finance and Economy to organize work on preparing the draft State Budget for 2026, the main directions of socio-economic development and the investment program of Turkmenistan and submit them to the Cabinet of Ministers by November 1, 2025.
Taking the opportunity, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated the participants of the government meeting and the entire Turkmen people on Day of the Constitution and State Flag of Turkmenistan, noting that the upcoming holiday will further strengthen the cohesion and unity of the Turkmen people in the name of the further prosperity of the independent Motherland.
