Oriented on making people closer

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received on Tuesday, May 20, head of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Mohammed Jalud, who arrived in the country on a visit. The meeting was another step in the development of sports cooperation between Turkmenistan in the international arena.

The head of the IWF noted Turkmenistan's impressive successes in sports and warmly recalled his previous visits to Ashgabat for the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in 2017, as well as the 2018 World Weightlifting Championships.

Welcoming the distinguished guest, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the current visit will allow discussing key areas and prospects for further partnership between Turkmenistan and the IWF.

During the meeting, the importance that Turkmenistan attaches to the development of sports and a healthy lifestyle was emphasized. The country is actively investing in world-class sports infrastructure, which has already allowed it to successfully host major international competitions, such as the 2018 World Weightlifting Championships. This event was an important step in popularizing sports in Turkmenistan and strengthened ties with the IWF.

Mohammed Jalud highly praised the sports base created in Turkmenistan, which allows for the development of world-class athletes and the holding of competitions of the highest level. He expressed gratitude to the President and National Leader of the Turkmen people for their constant attention to the development of sports.

The head of state, in turn, noted that this meeting marks a new stage in sports cooperation and contributes to the IWF's activities in developing sports and promoting Olympic values. He expressed confidence that the visit of the IWF leader will give impetus to further productive partnership, implementation of joint projects and the launch of new initiatives.

Concluding the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked Mohammed Jaloud for his personal contribution to strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and the International Weightlifting Federation and supporting the country's sports initiatives.
