The Turkmen delegation got acquainted with Italy's experience in promoting gender equality

From May 13 to 16, 2025, a delegation from Turkmenistan paid a working visit to the city of Rome to learn about Italy's experience in promoting gender equality within state bodies, technological improvement of services, and the enhancement of human rights protection in border regions. The visit was organized within the framework of the European Union Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA) for 2025.

In Rome, a series of meetings were organized for the members of the Turkmen delegation with representatives of human rights institutions and organizations. During a meeting with representatives of the Department for Equal Opportunities of the Italian Republic, the Italian side provided detailed information on the measures taken by their government to promote gender equality.

Subsequently, the Turkmen delegation held a bilateral meeting with the Ombudsman of the Lazio region, Dr. Marino Fardinelli, who presented the mechanisms used to strengthen the protection of human rights in the Italian Republic at the national and regional levels.

The concluding meetings of the visit took place with representatives of the "Women and International Security" organization, as well as the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Interior. As noted on the official website of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan, the study trip, organized by the European Union Border Management Programme in Central Asia, provided an excellent opportunity to learn about the experience of the Italian Republic in the protection of human rights, including gender equality, and to inform the Italian side about the state policy and practical measures implemented by Turkmenistan in this area.
