In Uzbek Termez, the interconnectedness of Central and South Asia will be discussed

Ashgabat, May 18 | ORIENT. The inaugural session of the Termez Dialogue on Connectivity between Central and South Asia, themed "Building a Common Space of Peace, Friendship, and Prosperity" will be held in Termez from May 19 to 21, 2025.

The Dialogue will convene approximately 200 representatives from political and economic spheres, business circles, financial institutions, international and regional organizations, as well as prominent experts from analytical and research centers worldwide. Participants will arrive from countries in Central and South Asia, Europe, the CIS, the Asia-Pacific region, the Americas, and the Middle East, underscoring the broad scope and significance of the topic.

A delegation from Turkmenistan will participate in this important international forum, including the Editor-in-Chief of the ORIENT website, Bekdurdy Amansaryyev, who, along with other national specialists, has been invited to an expert dialogue on issues of regional interconnectedness.

The primary objective of the Termez Dialogue is to establish a multilateral discussion platform for the practical promotion of the UN General Assembly's special resolution "Strengthening Connectivity between Central and South Asia". This resolution was adopted in 2022 at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, which lends high international status to the Dialogue.

Forum participants will engage in detailed discussions on the current state and prospects for interregional cooperation between Central and South Asia. The focus will be on strengthening collaboration in ensuring security, stability, and sustainable development, as well as expanding the role of the private sector and financial structures in fostering economic growth within this interconnectedness.

Following the Dialogue, the adoption of a Communiqué is expected, calling for the consolidation of efforts in strengthening trust and cooperation between Central and South Asia.

The Termez Dialogue is intended to become a permanent platform for identifying prospects for the further advancement of interregional connectivity and the maintenance of peace, security, and stability across the vast Eurasian continent. The participation of Turkmen representatives, including experts, in this Dialogue underscores the country's commitment to the development of broad regional cooperation.

The event is organized by the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
