May has the potential to become the second warmest in recorded history

Over the next 3–4 days, the territory of Turkmenistan, including Ashgabat, will be under the influence of relatively cool air currents originating from the southeastern periphery of a large anticyclone, the center of which is situated over the Volga region.

Daytime temperatures in the capital are expected to remain within the vicinity of +30 degrees Celsius. This temporary decrease in temperature values will influence the final figures for the month: the average monthly temperature is forecast to be +26.8…+27 degrees Celsius. Consequently, May 2025 will most likely become the second warmest in the history of meteorological observations, slightly falling short of the record-breaking years of 1961, 2014, and 2021, when the average monthly temperature reached +27 degrees Celsius.

The return of genuinely hot weather is anticipated at the very end of the month.
