 An international scientific and practical conference on water transport issues was held in Astrakhan

Astrakhan, May 29, 2025 - The Caspian Institute of Marine and River Transport named after General-Admiral F.M. Apraksin hosted conference dedicated to current solutions for water transport challenges and the effective implementation of the North-South transport corridor.

The event was attended by Turkmenistan's Consul Gadam Ilamanov, along with representatives of diplomatic missions from other Caspian region countries and regional authorities, including Ilya Volynsky, Deputy Chairman of Astrakhan Region Government, and Ilya Toropitsyn, Deputy Minister of Foreign Relations of Astrakhan Region.

During the conference, the role of water transport as a crucial link in developing a sustainable logistics infrastructure among the countries of the Caspian region was examined. In his speech, Consul of Turkmenistan highlighted Turkmenistan's active involvement in developing the corridor and stressed the importance of integrating national infrastructure into international logistics chains. He noted Turkmenistan's ongoing large-scale transport policy modernization projects, including digitalization of logistics processes, development of railway and maritime infrastructure, and efforts to improve regional transport connectivity, particularly through enhancing the Turkmenbashi seaport's capacity as a crucial INSTC hub.

The event represented a significant step in advancing international cooperation, demonstrating a shared commitment to establishing an efficient, sustainable and mutually beneficial Eurasian transport system.
