Oriented on making people closer

On June 24, a meeting took place at the Mejlis of Turkmenistan between the Deputy Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and a delegation led by Ms. Samantha Cazebon, Senator of the French Republic.

During the meeting, the significant role of inter-parliamentary cooperation in the established relations between the two countries across various sectors was highlighted. Emphasis was placed on the importance of the document signed during the official visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to the French Republic, concerning the modernization of the national education system. This document is expected to provide a powerful impetus for the further dynamic development of multifaceted cooperation between Turkmenistan and the French Republic.

It was particularly underscored that inter-parliamentary dialogue has become a crucial component in expanding the scope of cooperation between the two nations. The functioning of inter-parliamentary friendship groups, established on a bilateral basis, enhances opportunities for exchanging experience in legislative and parliamentary activities.

The parties also noted the significance of cooperation between the two countries in areas such as energy, water resource management, agriculture, infrastructure and urban planning, archaeology, and the teaching of the French language.

Furthermore, it was highlighted that Turkmen youth are pursuing higher education in institutions within the French Republic, and the French language is taught to students at Magtymguly Turkmen State University, Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammet Azadi, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and several secondary vocational education institutions.
