Sarahs railway terminal construction in Iran reaches 60% completion

Construction of the Sarahs railway terminal, located in Sarakhs city (Khorasan-Razavi Province, northeastern Iran), at the intersection of the "North-South" and "East-West" international transport corridors, has reached 60% completion.

This was announced by Mostafa Nasiri Varagh, Director General of Khorasan Railways, as reported by Trend.

According to Varagh, Iran places particular emphasis on increasing the volume of container transport along these corridors. The railway facilitates the transportation of goods from China and Central Asian countries to Iran's southern ports and to the border with Turkiye. The primary focus is on railway shipments from China to Iran, with subsequent onward distribution of goods to various destinations via the Sarahs terminal.

Varagh also noted that the development of these transport routes will positively impact Iran's export and import operations.

The Sarahs railway and road border crossing, situated on the border with Turkmenistan, is considered a pivotal point in Iran's foreign trade activities and its cargo transportation with Central Asian countries.
