Sharp unveils VR gloves for haptic feedback in virtual reality

Japanese company Sharp has announced the development of haptic VR gloves designed to allow users to experience tactile sensations with virtual objects. The estimated cost for a set is 100,000 yen.

A key feature of these gloves is the integration of miniature vibration motors into each finger. This technology enables the device to not only simulate touch but also to convey the texture of a virtual item.

For convenient control within virtual reality, buttons and a joystick are strategically placed under the thumb of the glove. These controls facilitate in-game interaction and menu navigation within applications. The manufacturer also highlights the gloves' ease of donning and doffing, which is highly practical for swiftly transitioning between keyboard/mouse input and VR gameplay.

However, despite the announcement, Sharp has not yet made a final decision regarding the commercial release of this device. There remains a possibility that the project may be discontinued.
