Turkmenistan and Georgia Strengthen Bilateral Ties During Foreign Ministers' Talks
22.10.2025 | 10:55 |On October 21, as part of an official visit to Georgia, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Bochorishvili.
The sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues, including the development of bilateral relations in political, economic, and humanitarian spheres. Particular attention was paid to cooperation within the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations.
The ministers emphasized the importance of regular consultations between the foreign policy departments of both countries and the significance of bilateral visits at the highest level. The meeting also discussed opportunities to expand trade and economic cooperation. In particular, the sides highlighted prospects for collaboration in the fields of transport, trade, education, science, sports, and tourism.
Cultural and humanitarian cooperation was discussed as a separate area of focus. The ministers expressed interest in holding mutual cultural events aimed at strengthening friendship between the peoples of Turkmenistan and Georgia.
As part of the continuation of the official visit, a meeting was also held in the Parliament of Georgia between Rashid Meredov and the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili. The sides discussed the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation as an important factor in strengthening friendly relations between the two countries and expanding productive partnership in all areas of mutual interest.
Noting the special role of parliamentary diplomacy in foreign policy, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan emphasized that parliamentary cooperation plays a key role in the further dynamic development of bilateral ties. He also noted that political relations between Turkmenistan and Georgia have reached a qualitatively new level and are characterized by high dynamism.
The sides confirmed their readiness to continue strengthening relations on the principles of equality and mutual respect, promoting strategic partnership and cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
