 Turkmenistan is preparing new laws on human rights, science and virtual assets

Turkmenistan is working on a number of key bills aimed at strengthening the protection of citizens' rights, developing the digital and scientific environment, and strengthening the country's electoral system.

As reported by Chairperson of the Mejlis Dunyagozel Gulmanova at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on June 4, the priority projects include laws:

▪️ on the protection of human rights, freedoms and legitimate interests

▪️ on the creation of a unified state register of voters

▪️ on scientific intellectual property

▪️ on virtual assets

▪️ on the establishment of a jubilee medal for the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality

These acts are aimed at modernizing the country's legal framework and correspond to the objectives of large-scale reforms carried out in various areas - from law to technology.

The head of parliament also summed up the results of legislative activity for the first five months of 2025. From January to May, 8 new laws were adopted, including on improving the activities of judicial bodies, on accession to the Protocol to the International Convention on Load Lines.

In addition, important amendments were made to the Criminal, Civil, Arbitration Procedure, Criminal Procedure, Family and Labor Codes, as well as to legislation on taxes, migration, transport, administrative proceedings.
