On August 28, talks between Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov were held in Moscow.

The Russian Foreign Ministry published Lavrov's opening remarks at the meeting. In particular, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said: "Our relations are developing intensively. Political dialogue is regularly maintained at the highest and high level, which allows us to confidentially and frankly exchange assessments on issues of expanding bilateral cooperation and our deep strategic partnership, exchange views on issues of international politics, Central Asia, adjacent regions, the activities of international organizations, primarily the UN."

The work of intergovernmental commissions and the exchange of visits at the governmental level were noted. It was mentioned the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Nokerguly Atagulyev on July 25 in the International Environmental Conference in Altai and the Russian delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in Avaza.

"Our talks in Ashgabat gave a noticeable impetus to bilateral relations. The Program of Inter-Ministry of Foreign Affairs Cooperation for 2025-2026 is already being implemented. On August 20, a meeting was held to take stock of the legal framework. This is technical but important work for the correct construction of our relations on a solid international legal basis," Lavrov added.

Cultural and humanitarian contacts were not ignored. Recently, the Moscow Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky hosted a gala Turkmen-Russian concert, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the International Year of Peace, Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality, with great success.
