Turkmenistan is participating in the 10th session of the Lisbon Recognition Convention Committee

A representative of the Innovation and Information Center of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan is participating in the 10th session of the Lisbon Recognition Convention Committee on higher education qualifications. The event is taking place on October 22, 2025, at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris under the auspices of UNESCO and the Council of Europe. This was reported by the National Information Center of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.

The Lisbon Convention Committee is the key body ensuring the fair and transparent recognition of diplomas, degrees, and periods of study among the participating countries. The Convention, adopted in 1997, serves as the main legal instrument in the European Region to facilitate the academic and professional mobility of students and graduates.

Several important issues are on the agenda for the current session. Delegates are discussing the adoption of the revised Code of Good Practice in the Provision of Transnational Education. Special attention is being paid to the opportunities and risks of using artificial intelligence to automate the process of recognizing qualifications and verifying the authenticity of documents.

The Committee is also approving the new work plan for 2025-2028, considering a report on the use of the European Qualifications Passport for Refugees, and holding elections for new members of the Bureau—the Committee's governing body.
