OGT-2025 | Turkmenistan and Partners Clarify Oil and Gas Prospects

The 30th International Forum "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2025" (OGT-2025) opened in Ashgabat on October 22. It has become a large-scale platform for discussing the future of the national and global energy sector. The forum's main goal is to strengthen energy cooperation, attract strategic investment, and reaffirm Turkmenistan's role as a regional energy hub.

The event brought together representatives from dozens of countries, including the heads of major global corporations and relevant agencies.

The exhibition features pavilions of leading global and national companies showcasing cutting-edge technologies. For example, China's CNPC showcased comprehensive gas transportation solutions, Italy's ENI presented innovations in LNG production and solutions, Dragon Oil (UAE), the American Backer Hughes, Japan's Sumitomo Corporation, and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) focused on investment platforms, digitalization, and technologies for offshore fields, and Malaysia's Petronas showcased projects to reduce its carbon footprint and digital transformation.

Turkmen companies (Türkmen Gala, Gujurly Inžener, and others) are also well represented, showcasing their achievements in logistics, service, and high-tech manufacturing at their booths.

The international conference, part of the forum, is being held under the motto "Energy. Innovation. Development." The plenary sessions featured speeches by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, the energy ministers of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, and the heads of ENOC, Dragon Oil, PETRONAS, SOCAR, and the International Gas Union.

The main topics on the forum's agenda included the revitalization of the TAPI project and regional security. In this context, the role of Turkmenistan, with its colossal gas reserves, in ensuring energy security was emphasized. It was noted that the next stage of the project—the Serhetabat-Herat section—was recently launched.

Forum participants agreed on the need for a balanced approach combining the development of the fuel and energy sector with carbon footprint reduction programs. It was emphasized that natural gas is an important low-emission transition fuel capable of meeting the growing demand for clean energy sources. Implementing methane emission reduction projects and widespread digitalization were identified as priorities.

It was noted that the energy transition for Turkmenistan does not mean replacing hydrocarbons, but rather their efficient and advanced processing. The main topic of the thematic session was attracting investment in modernizing the petrochemical industry for the production of high-tech products such as polymers and mineral fertilizers.

The forum continues its work through thematic sessions aimed, among other things, at expanding Turkmen gas export routes to South Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
