Turkmen Doctors Completed Online Training on International Medical Standards

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Representation in Turkmenistan conducted an online training for national obstetricians and gynecologists as part of the Country Programme for 2021–2025.

The training, held from October 21 to 23, aimed to strengthen the national capacity in updating and implementing clinical protocols in obstetrics and gynecology. The sessions were led by UNFPA international consultant Stelian Hodorogea, Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Moldova.

During the three-day program, doctors studied evidence-based approaches to pregnancy and childbirth management. Topics included methods for confirming gestational age, diagnosing pathological pregnancies, management of recurrent miscarriages, and progesterone effectiveness. Postpartum hemorrhage management, infusion-transfusion therapy, and preventive measures and screening for restricted fetal growth were also covered.

As part of Hodorogea’s mission, two preliminary online meetings were held on September 22 and 24 with national specialists to discuss current issues and coordinate updates to clinical protocols.

The event was held within the framework of UNFPA’s cooperation with the Government of Turkmenistan, aimed at strengthening the healthcare system and reducing maternal and infant mortality.
