The acceptance of applications for a grant from the US Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation is nearing completion
09.12.2022 | 15:48 |The US Embassy in Turkmenistan on its official website reminded about the approach to the completion of applications for a grant from the US Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP).
The deadline for submitting proposals is December 15, 2022. To obtain the appropriate application form, you must contact the U.S. Embassy in Turkmenistan.
Interested parties should be provided with a detailed description of the project and its participants, including the timing and indication of the importance of the cultural object or form of expression.
The proposed project budget should not exceed 500 thousand US dollars.
The Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation is one of the programs of the Bureau of Education and Culture of the U.S. Department of State, which was established in 2001. During its existence, the Foundation has supported over 900 projects for the preservation of cultural heritage in more than 200 countries around the world.
In particular, Turkmenistan has received funding for the preservation of about 30 cultural heritage sites. Among them, the project of the National Carpet Museum of Turkmenistan to preserve the unique collection of Turkmen carpets of the XVIII, XIX and XX centuries, the project of the National Library of Turkmenistan grant for the preservation and restoration of rare and valuable books.
The grant helped the National Library to preserve and restore almost 50,000 rare and valuable books of the XVI-XIX centuries. The US State Department also provided an AFCP grant to the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and the Institute of History and Archaeology to support the restoration and preservation of reservoirs of the XI century (sardob) at the historical site of Shahrislam in the Ahal region.
AFCP allocates funding for projects in the following categories:
– cultural objects, including historical sites and buildings, monuments and archaeological sites,
– cultural objects and collections from a museum, monument or similar institution (paintings, manuscripts, collections of photographs and films),
– forms of traditional cultural expression (music, rituals, knowledge, languages, dances).
