Turkmen athletes will go to the Shotokan Karate World Championship
06.09.2023 | 11:52 |The Shotokan Karate World Championship among adult athletes, as well as cadets, juniors and athletes under 21 will start on Friday, September 8, in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
About two thousand athletes will take part in the tournament. The national team of Turkmenistan will be represented by 62 karate players of various age categories. Members of the judging panel will go to the championship with them.
The Shotokan Karate World Championship will last until September 10. The previous championship took place last year, in Pardubice (Czech Republic). Then, following the results of the tournament, the Turkmenistan Shotokan karate team, having demonstrated impressive results, won a total of 102 medals of various denominations and 2 awards in the "Grand Champions" category.
Turkmen karate masters, having won 4 gold medals on the first day of the tournament, 19 gold, 9 silver and 14 bronze medals on the second day, 12 gold, the same number of silver and 32 bronze medals on the third day of the competition, became third in the team medal standings, passing ahead of the hosts of the World Championship – the Czechs and the Romanian national team.
