Four dads, four daughters and one song
10.02.2023 | 01:38 |This almost detective musical story is connected with a work that many Turkmens have come to love. Once the People's Artist of Turkmenistan Atageldy Garyadgdiyev was invited by the bride's father as a guest at the wedding. The father of the girl who got married asked the famous singer to sing so that he could dance a slow waltz with his daughter. Maestro Garyagdiyev, of course, agreed.
The evening of the celebration has come, the hall is full of guests, everyone congratulates the groom, the bride, and parents. It was the turn of the famous singer. Garyagdiyev takes the microphone, the girl's dad froze in anticipation. Music poured out, the singer sang. But the bride's father's face suddenly turned pale. At the end of the performance, he sadly thanked the singer for his wonderful singing and said that it was not the right song at all. And he almost cries from the failed surprise for his daughter.
— And what song should I have sung? After all, you asked for a waltz for your daughter. So I sang a waltz.
— I wanted another one. Well, remember, there, in your song, you're on TV with your daughter. She treats you, and then you marry her off. I liked that song of yours so much.
Then Maestro Garyagdiyev realized what song he was talking about and laughed.
— It's not my song. I'm just a performer, not a composer. And the daughter in the clip is also not mine. It was a video specially shot for this song.
The evening continued. But Atageldy Garyagdiyev saw from his friend's face how much he was upset and disappointed.
Then the singer came up with an idea. He approached the musicians and quietly explained to them what tune to play. He took the microphone and went on stage without an announcement. Gentle music began to play, Garyagdiyev began to sing. The bride's father, who had been talking to the guests before, turned to the stage. Not only he, but the rest of the guests also quieted down after hearing the beautiful melody.
The maestro was singing. And the bride's father, moved either by the music, or by his daughter's wedding, or by the fact that his musical surprise was a success, shed tears. Approaching his daughter, he led her to the center of the hall. He embraced her tenderly, and they began to spin in a slow dance. Watching the touching waltz of a father and daughter in a snow-white veil, the invited guests could not contain their emotions.
When the last chords of the music died down, the guests smiled and applauded the singer and the bride with her father. Everyone liked this unusual wedding gift. The bride's dad approached the singer again. There was a smile on his face. He thanked Atageldy Garyagdiyev and said that this was the song he wanted to hear.
After some time, the famous singer meets composer Kerimguly Garov, the author of that song, on the street and tells him the whole story about dad and daughter. Laughing heartily at this funny story, Garov tells his counter story about dad and daughter. Namely, the fact that while writing this very song, he came up with several versions of the chorus and could not choose which motive to leave. Then he called his daughter and invited her to choose by playing several musical fragments on the instrument. The girl was delighted with the song and chose the melody she liked the most.
By the way, this song was created on the eve of the March 8 holiday. At the initiative of the rector of the conservatory, the composers were asked to create a song praising the tenderness, charm and caring of their daughter. A creative competition was announced among the composers, according to the results of which a song by composer Garov was chosen for performance at the state concert. Singer Atageldy Garyagdiyev himself said that usually, when performing at concerts, he puts a folder with lyrics on a stand in front of him. After all, because of the large number of them, it is not easy to remember words.
— But with this song it's different. After that incident at the wedding, I memorized every line of it and sing exclusively from memory," he says.
But perhaps the funniest thing in this whole story is that the composer Garov did not even know that a video clip was shot for his song, which was often shown on national television, on the Turkmen Ovazy channel. After the story told by Atageldy Garyagdiyev, the next day the composer met his friend, whom he had not seen for a long time. They greeted each other cordially and began exchanging news. A friend suddenly began to talk about his one-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
— You won't believe it, but the fact is that every morning in my house begins with a song that Atageldy Garyagdyev sings about his daughter. My daughter, who doesn't really know how to speak yet, doesn't agree to go to kindergarten until she listens to this song. For us, listening to this song in the morning has become a ritual. In order not to wait for the TV to broadcast this song, I recorded this video. And now every day, for about forty minutes, we have an audition of this song at home. It turns out that this song is yours. But it's been ours for almost a year now," he joked.
It would seem that this would be the end of the story.
But after a while Kerimguly Garov decided to show this song to his colleague, composer Jeren Kurbanklycheva. When he finished playing, he saw how Jeren Muhammetnurovna got a little sad and, taking off her glasses, rubbed her eyes.
— I remembered my dad and myself as a child. How much he loved me," she said. - How I was waiting for him from work and ran out to meet him. This song brought me so many memories.
Here is such a touching story of a song that has become a symbol of fatherly love for daughters. And apparently, this is not the final yet. After all, how many girls are still growing up in our country!
Those who are interested in what kind of song it is can listen to it on the channel "Turkmen Ovazy". It is called "Mahriban gyzym" ("My dear dear daughter"), the author of the words Gulshirin Hanova, composer Kerimguly Garov.
