Turkmenistan Announces Best Alabai-Competition Winner

Turkmen Alabai Day, celebrated on October 26, was marked by a colorful celebration at the Ashgabat Equestrian Center. The event featured performances by artists and a vibrant exhibition featuring works of decorative and applied art, folk crafts, carpets, and sculptures, with the image of the Alabai taking center stage.
Guests included members of the government, heads of diplomatic missions, leading dog handlers, and foreign delegates. The exhibition featured a selection of adorable Alabai puppies, who captivated the audience with their friendly behavior.
The celebration culminated with the announcement of the results of the "Yylyň türkmen edermen alabaýy" (Brave Turkmen Alabai of the Year) International Competition. Ten of the best Alabai dogs, selected from across the country, were brought out onto the viewing platform to demonstrate the skills they had acquired during their training. The contestants successfully navigated an obstacle course, where their speed, accuracy, and fearlessness were assessed, and completed other tasks.

The jury awarded the title of "Brave Turkmen Alabai of the Year" to an Alabai named Vepaly ("Loyal"), owned by the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan. The four-legged winner was trained by the country's honored cynologist, Orazmyrat Saparov.
By decree of the President of Turkmenistan, he was awarded a Toyota Camry, a medal, and a competition cup. The cynologist expressed his deep gratitude for the high recognition of his work and assured him of his continued service to preserving the purity of the breed.
In addition to honoring the four-legged champions, the results of the creative competition for the best artistic depiction of the Alabai were also announced. Representatives of a wide range of fields received awards on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov: carpet weavers for their masterful carpets, painters and sculptors for their works of art, publishing and design specialists for their printed products, and television cameramen for their best videos depicting the courage and devotion of the Turkmen Alabai.
