Myahri Byashimova Spoke at the UN High-Level Meeting on Regional Peace Zones
09.07.2025 | 00:02 |The delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Myahri Byashimova took part in the UN High-Level Meeting on Regional Peace Zones, which was held on July 7 at the UN headquarters in New York.
The high-level meeting is aimed at developing existing and creating new regional peace zones, expanding cooperation between them, as well as strengthening friendly relations and mutual trust between states and regions.
In her speech, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan reaffirmed the country's commitment to the principles of neutrality, peacefulness and good neighborliness, which are the basis of Turkmenistan's foreign policy. Turkmenistan's unwavering position on the issue of creating and strengthening regional peace zones, in particular, a zone of peace, trust and cooperation in Central Asia, was emphasized.
The Turkmen side emphasized that the adoption by consensus of the UN General Assembly Resolution "Zone of Peace, Trust and Cooperation in Central Asia" is a significant step in the institutionalization of the principles of peace, dialogue and trust at the regional level.
It was especially noted that peace zones are instruments of sustainability, platforms for diplomacy and an expression of regional responsibility for peace processes.
According to the general opinion of the participants, the meeting became an important platform for exchanging views and developing joint approaches to strengthening peace and security at the regional and global levels.
On the same day, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova met with UN Under-Secretary-General, High Representative for the Least Developed, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island States Rabab Fatima.
During the conversation, the parties discussed organizational issues related to the preparation for the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3). The high importance of this Conference in the context of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals was emphasized, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
