Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and the EU Held a Telephone Conversation
08.07.2025 | 23:15 |A telephone conversation took place on July 8 between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas.
At the beginning of the conversation, Ms. Kallas expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan for providing a humanitarian corridor for citizens of the EU countries traveling from Iran to their host countries. This gesture demonstrates the important role of Turkmenistan in regional stability and humanitarian cooperation.
The heads of the foreign ministries discussed the development of relations between Turkmenistan and the European Union, confirming their constructive nature. They particularly noted the effectiveness of the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Central Asian states and the EU High Representative, which took place in Ashgabat in March this year, which set the tone for deepening cooperation.
Meredov and Kallas also particularly emphasized the importance of the first summit of the EU and Central Asian states, which was held in April 2025 in Samarkand. This summit became an important milestone in strengthening interregional dialogue at the highest level.
In addition, the parties considered a wide range of issues on further enhancing political and diplomatic cooperation, and exchanged views on current regional and international issues of mutual interest.
